FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: When is Finntroll going to play in *insert random place*?
A: This isn’t the band’s decision. It’s all between Finntroll’s booking agency and your local promoter (!!!) and it depends on many factors. Thus, there’s no need to open topics or ask questions such as: “Can you please come and perform at *wherever*?” What you really need to do is bother your local promoter to bring Finntroll to your place. Also check tour dates here: Live section or Official Finntroll MySpace, they might already be on their way there
If you happen to be a promoter and want to set a gig, go here: Finntroll contacts.
Q: Where is Trollhorn, why doesn’t he play live gigs?
A: Trollhorn decided in 2005 not to play live anymore due to private reasons (family and dislike of touring). A replacement for shows was found in Aleksi Virta. Virta was also made a full time member of Finntroll in late 2009.
Trollhorn is still a member of Finntroll – he writes, produces etc. most of the music – he can also be seen live on rare occasions or when the band plays in Finland.
Q: Why did Wilska leave the band?
A: Wilska was fired from the band in early 2006. Both him and the band would like to keep the reason for this dismissal private.
Q: What happened to Katla?
A: He had to retire from the band due to a viral-based tumor in his vocal cords which could not be removed surgically. Since Ur Jordens Djup album, he is again responsible for the lyrics.
Q: Why does Finntroll sing in Swedish?
A: Finntroll's first singer Katla decided to use Swedish over Finnish since he was part of a Swedish-speaking minority in Finland and the sound of the language seemed to better suit the band's "trollish" outfit. Despite several vocalist changes, this tradition has since been continued. Current singer Mathias "Vreth" Lillmåns belongs to the Swedish-speaking minority as well.
Q: What does “Försvinn du som lyser over mitt folk” mean?
A: "Begone you who shines over my people".
Q: What does “Vi som har det iskalla trollblodet” mean?
A: “We who have the ice-cold trollblood”
Q: Where do I find English translations to Finntroll lyrics?
A: For English translations browse through this topic: LINK
Also alternative Nifelvind translation: LINK
Q: Who does the artwork for the Finntroll albums?
A: Finntroll’s guitarist Samuli Ponsimaa aka Skrymer.
Q: Where did Vreth get his skirt?
A: Nobody knows. Not even himself
