Just wanted to say that the episode of Game of Thrones on Sunday was fucking pwnage. It just keeps getting better, like the books. HBO is doing a damn good job organizing the episodes, with George Martin's help and the help of many fans no doubt. I personally think it is great because it allows the audience who haven't read the books time to read and fill in the gaps on some information that they might not understand in the show.

BBC - Inside The Medieval Mind(4 parts)

Fucking sweet. Examines the topics Knowledge, Sex, Belief, and Power. Difficult to explain in detail, but much of the focus is on Britain of course, it is BBC after all. However, the series is very informative on the overall thoughts and feelings of the average medieval citizen. Other countries are represented, but most of the evidence is via British sources and nearly all of the Catholic Church involvement revolves around England. I definitely suggest it. Fear the dogheads from the east. :D

Agreed, and apparently GRRM told the producers how the story ends, just in case he dies before finishing the books. Not the world's biggest optimist, this guy. Plus that helps when they need to cut characters.

There's a lot of changes in compare to the books, but so far I'm liking it. I freaking love the Tywin & Arya interactions (although they writers must make sure they don't cross the line - Tywin can't be aware who she is). The only thing that surprises me is that I pictured so many characters differently, especially Davos, whom I imagined warmer, and especially Melisandre, who I thought would be redder and more fiery, if that makes any sense.

A friend who has the books on order, and who is part of the Sunday evening GOT ritual watching, was asking about the tension between Arya and Tywin. It was hard to answer questions without being overly specific. I just kept saying Arya goes through some tough situations.

I think there are probably many out there who have likes and dislikes with the casting. I think they have done a great job, as HBO shows usually go. Davos in the books kinda gave me a dark/morbid feeling, almost like he is trapped by his honor to serve Stannis and the tension just increases with Melisandre around. I don't remember the firey lady ever discussing age, but it seems appropriate that she not appear as a young woman. I kinda think that in the literary world setting it would have taken her years of dedication to reach the level she has attained.

It's hard to talk about it because there are so many crazy things yet to come but I definitely do not want to ruin it for anyone who might not have read the books yet. 'Reek. My name is Reek. It rhymes with freak.' ;)

Well, I find the casting superb as well. I don't really dislike Davos and Melisandre, I just pictured them differently. It's interesting how, in the books, I understood Davos the opposite as you did - I found him blindly loyal to Stannis at the beginning. I agree with Melisandre's age, but I just thought the colour would be more vivid (this one is better looking, tho).

Oh gosh. I found Reek's chapters the toughest to read.

BOOK SPOILERS AHEAD: When Theon turned against the Starks in the books and got Winterfell destroyed and all those people killed, I started loathing him severely. It's the fact that he did it to the family that basically, although he was a hostage, took him as their own, that did it for me. I hated him so much. But the Reek thing later ... I felt so bad for him. Nobody deserves that. And the thing with George Martin is that you never know what will happen next - the Boltons might end up being the real winners at the end of it all and that thought repulses me.

Well, Davos is blindly loyal from the beginning, but I sensed some kind of internal struggle, especially after...shit, no spoilers. ;) Such a great actor, Liam Cunningham, playing him and the tv audience will probably feel like I did because his facial expressions in the show speak volumes.

I agree. Those chapters were a bit difficult to read, but you reap what you sow. Hurry up and make the topic...I want to say more but can't. I fear we have already ruined a bit if brother Aldhissla peaks at this. :P

I haven't read the books yet and sometimes I'm just not following. And I always forget the names of the characters. Even the names of the main characters. Sometimes I think I should watch some more simple TV series, something like only one character and nothing happens. I do enjoy watching Game of Thrones, though.
I started watching The Supersizers Eat... which is actually the second season of The Supersizers Go..., but episodes stopped coming after the second one. It's a pity, I really liked that show.

I saw The Viking Sagas again and Dr Janina Ramirez is cute indeed.
I'm watching Ancient Aliens. It's mostly based on von Däniken's ideas. I don't really believe in the von Däniken stuff, but many ancient buildings are shown in this series, so I find it exciting. So all those buildings were built by aliens and all mythical creatures were aliens? It would be a great disappointment for me, if it turned out that it's true. Mythical creatures are rather symbols I guess. Today we can't imagine how those ancient buildings could be built, but I think this is because humans are getting stupider. Intelligence is constant on Earth while biomass is growing.
