Does anyone remember "American Gothic"? It was around in the mid nineties, it was a thriller series. Used to like watching it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111880/

Oh, definitely! I loved it in high school, and I got the DVD-box for Christmas two years ago or so. It took until last autumn until I dared to rewatch it again though - seeing things you remember as "awesome" from high school can be a bit of a disappointment, but it was still amazing!

Except for that Doctor Who, Being Human, How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory are the best shows that are running nowadays. I was a big Supernatural fan, but the current season is not even bad, it is just pointless.

I know what you mean about appreciating things from a younger age and sometimes they are not as good as you remembered. I would'nt mind seeing it again though maybe get one or two editions of it, but I might be disappointed.

David Tennant creepy? Cool! Why? I find him astounding! And he's pretty - even my 53 year old mother has a crush on him.I'm trying to convince her that the series of Doctor Who where the Doctor is played by someone else are worth watching as well, but she refuses to see any episodes where he isn't present. I haven't seen the episodes with Tom Baker yet - I've only seen the new series, and the really old ones with William Hartnell. Love both series though , but in very different ways. I like the darkness in the new ones, and the easy going feeling of the old.

I might see if I can get the box set off Amazon at some stage, I used to like some of the incidental music from "American Gothic" probably worth getting just to see it again

Christopher Eccelston did a good job of when they brought the series back. I also liked Jon Pewtree he was good and quite eccentric too William Hartnell I have one episode on DVD which is pretty good and I have one of Patrick Troughton, they all have there own style which brings something different to each Doctor.
Back in the nineties they did a two part series with Paul MGann, unfortunately I did not get to see it however I heard it was quite good.
There is one I have seen in the shop with new Doctor and Xmas edition with Michael Gambon that may be worth a look at some stage ...

It is a shame that he left, he gave the series a lift that it needed. He had a style that worked well with playing Dr Who, Christopher Eccleston was quoted at the time the reason for his leaving was that he was afraid of being type cast, which I thought was a bit odd as he has done quite a variety of things.
I have got six episodes of the series with each Dr that came free with a newspaper that a friend gave to us which was pretty good.

The one good thing with Eccleston leaving was that we got Tennant though. But I guess you don't agree there. Several of my friends actually stopped seeing the series when he left.

Oh, never heard of it! But Danes make good movies. My favourite Danish series is The Kingdom. It's magnificent!

It's a trash evening paper, though, so I shouldn't bother mentioning it!

I don't understand why like 90% of all popular Swedish fiction has to be stereotypical crime stories we've all heard a million times before. And the majority of historical literature being read by the general population points to a raunchy fascination with the Third Reich. If you don't see a Swastika in the best seller's shelf in the history section of your local bookstore then you are probably dreaming.

Not to mention that he died before finishing it! His series was dragging like hell, and he went out of his way to make a God damn prologue about the adventures of Lan and Moiraine despite his condition. Don't fucking care. Finish the story.
Even the author who took over admitted that it was dragging, but that it all had a grand purpose that would be revealed. It'll be interesting to see what he means when I get there.

Speaking of fantasy: The first episode of HBO:s adaption of Game of Thrones will air in a month! I have high hopes for it, to say the least. I love the books, the actors seem good and have acted in a lot of historicals before (also Boromir, hello), George R.R. Martin has been a TV writer in the past, HBO makes good shows etc. etc.
Not to mention the story where they, in true Lannister fashion, destroyed the eco system of an entire beach because they thought it didn't look "beachy" enough. They promptly shipped some truckloads of proper Hollywood sand there and dumped it on the whole thing.

It has always seemed sad to me that German Soldiers who served in ww 2 can't feel proud of their service.Politics,world domination,genocide,racial pograms aside the average soldier who served his nation and comrades should be allowed some pride shouldn't he?It's not their fault they were mislead and lied to.

About the Swedish crime: Yes, that annoys me too! Movies are even worse than books though - especially when they try to make the story American. It is just impossible to make Swedish cops realistic or even entertaining when trying to make them NYPD.

Wheel of Time: I only got to Crossroads of Twilight, then I just couldn't bother anymore. I might read the rest when the last book is out, but I seriously doubt it. And A Game of Thrones is going to be awesome! I didn't really like the books (I'm quite tired of the whole fantasy-thing right now), but I think I'd enjoy to see it as a tv-series.
