Good & Bad about today

Bad: There doesn't seem to be any venues for metal music within 500km. There are venues, and they have great live sound, but I have yet to see anything other than the traditional music from this area and some reggae/ska sounding pop music. I think I have a serious mission ahead of me.

I hear ya on that one. I've been having metal show withdrawal since I moved here. I know that occasionally metal bands come to Japan, but they definitely don't come to Hiroshima.

Bad: Ridiculously busy day.
Good: I've got a pint of beer here and a shot of Koskenkorva salmiakki to end the day.

a lot of bugs over here this summer too-it's been hot and there was no deep freeze in the winter so all the hibernating/larvae/pupa etc made it through in strong numbers.
Good-but im glad it's hot i like hot summer.

@kituvan_kiitos: Sorry to hear that. I hope things turn around for ya. I just looked at the store across the street from my place and amazingly saw a Ludwig Drum kit, however it will cost me about a month's salary. I will have to do some budgeting for that.

Good: Saturday, and started a second job at a private school teaching English. This extra income might help get the drum kit faster.
Good: Heading to Laos for a couple of days/border hopping so I can get a new passport stamp while I wait for my Visa and work permit paperwork to process. That means I get a few free days off work.
Bad: Asians, at least southeast Asians, seem to think that all westerners are rich. Hence I will have to pay an extra fee crossing the border and probably another fee re-entering Thailand.
Bad: I have to get an advance on my first paycheck because of the fees associated with my paperwork. I thought maybe the school would cover those since they keep telling me they 'want me to be comfortable and stay a long time.' Then again, all westerners are rich.

Bad: I traveled to Székesfehérvár yesterday to visit my grandpa because it seems he will pass away soon. We couldn't really communicate because he has Alzheimer disease. Otherwise he's the same old cheerful guy, behaving nasty, laughing and making jokes all the time, but we have no idea what is he talking about. He's at home and not in a hospital, which is good. My mother takes care of him.
Good: My sister is planning to have a baby. She's going to name her baby Bóna Nina Bonita in any case. My mother's opinion: "Well, Bóna Nina Bonita is wonderful... and I hope he will be a boy... but come on! The servant-girls are called Bonita in every soap opera."

Sorry to hear about your grandfather. My grandmother passed away a couple of years ago due to Alzheimer's + dementia, so for the last few years of her life it was impossible to communicate. Just enjoy the time you have left and remember that he is going to a better place.

And congrats for the new family member coming soon.

Good: Got all my documents together for the consulate visit
Good/Bad: Have to spend a couple of days in Laos and make it back across the border. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

Bad: Everybody goes abroad from here. OK, I know that they earn much more money in Western Europe, but there is the same shit everywhere, so what the hell.

Bad-The NY media always find people whining about the heat,the cold,the snow whatever.I hate it,cause the seasons are not extreme here-it's a temperate climate with a mix of all 4 seasons in reasonable amounts.
Good-a warm winter and hot season has shut up fox news douches that yap about global warming being a myth.
Bad-warm and dry for most of 2012,major drought in some parts of the country.

Bad: Apparently no summer for us. It's the middle of July, it's 14 degrees outside, it's raining EVERY FUCKING DAY.
Bad: Having to deal with idiotic customers who are earning their living with the internet and then are too fucking stupid to realise that one actually can SCROLL down on a website....

Good: Got a bicycle for free. It's small for me, but most bikes are small for me, so I have to get used to it.
Good: Got a bottle of tequila.
