The album review thread.

Postby henkk » Sat Jul 16, 2011 6:15 pm

Just came up with a idea for a thread, I have no idea if it will survive for long but it could be fun.

Post your home-made album reviews! It can be of anything you like/hate. ofcourse people are welcome to comment on them. I myself am horrible at writing reviews so dont expect me to make any sense if I post one ^^

Im a walking opinion-im sure i'll think of some stuff to say.I have to point out the conradiction of starting a review thread that you don't want to post reviews in ....
it's just another in a lifetime's worth of lessons never learned

Listened to Lonzo - Keine Zeit that Aldhissla posted.

Wasn't very good.

Just listened to the new Amon Amarth album, it was decent. As you can expect its full of heroic riffs, Lyrics about vikings and gods and the roaring vocals of Johan hegg ( which i really like)

There are a couple of songs I really REALLY like: Destroyer of the Universe, A Beast Am I and Slaves of Fear. the first is your typical amon amarth song, fast riffing and a pretty catchy chorus. The second has my favorite riff of the whole album, it has almost an egyptian feel to it. the thirth has pretty cool guitar as well as my favorite lyrics.

The problem with this album is that the rest of the songs is just filler to me, exept of the exellent cover of "aerials" by system of a down. I could not find a single memorable riff or moment in any of the other songs.

All by all its a decent album, Its excellent for a party with your friends, but apart from 4 songs the rest is pretty forgettable.

7 out of 10.

^Pretty cool!

Now please write a review about Kvelertak's Kvelertak. Is that a good summer album? Does it fit for insane beer-drinking parties?

Dont get me started about Kvelertak's debut! Its a almost perfect album, the mix of catchy black metal and punk rock is definity great to party to.

The first track "Ulvetid" is the perfect example of this very original mix, I was immediately blown away by this track. The second track is the single, and you can definitly hear this. its the most simple and straightforward track on the album ( but still pretty awesome) the other tracks are just as original and energetic as the first two. exept for "Nekroskop" which drags on a little to long for my taste.
The bonus tracks are some exellent live versions of Fossegrim, Sjøhyenar, Blodtørs and Mjød. as well as two demo's. Only downside of the live tracks: no crowd noise or cheering,

favorite tracks: Ulvetid, Sjøhyenar and Ordsmedar Av Rang

Score: 9/10 A perfect album for a all out beer-drinking party, Its energetic, happy ( with a dark side to it), and its accessible enough for friends who dont listen to extreme metal to enjoy.

Dunno about your german skills; might be a nostalgic thing as well (even tho most people I know that didn't know it before do like it). Congrats on finding it, tho!
