I am interested in the board member's general opinion:
How much advertising should be allowed?

We had the Promote your shit thread on the last board and if you want to promote some band/webpage/store you have, feel free to re-open it. I'm not sure if we had any limitations on that one, or should we have some?

Now this today is another case: in MetalCamp topic one of the bands put up an advertisement. I don't find it disturbing myself - it's on topic, it offers cheaper tickets so it can be some reader's benefit and I also know how some bands are struggling with tickets sales for the fest. But on the other hand it's still somebody just registering to sell something ... So feel free to disagree or to share your thought on this matter. Do you think this shouldn't be allowed either?

Oh, but I'm deleting any sort of indirect advertising, like the "girl" posting about being a Finntroll, name misspelled, newbie and wanting to convince her BF to get some merch and what do we think on this *linked to the actual store*. At least speak forward, dammit.

I agree with your point about the metalcamp post being on topic-but also with the probability that we'll never see them again. What about a minimum posts before pasting links?something reasonable like 25-just to show they are actually interested in the band and board.Idk if this is even possible, but it seems fair to me,so we dont wind up with hundreds of 1 post members.
it's just another in a lifetime's worth of lessons never learned

The one I was speaking about last has some posts in what you're drinking/good movies/what you're listening to - all from the same day, so they're working on sounding authentic already

But generally I agree on some sort of limit for promoting. And it's not like we have millions of those :)

Eh, just use your best judgment on a case by case basis. Some advertising may actually be of use for the members, but I don't think anyone needs Chinese wedding dresses etc. etc.

Agreed. I had the cursor on the DELETE-Button of the MC.Ticket "Advertisment" already and then thought: Nah, fuck it. Even though I don't think that he's gonna sell tickets by dropping his mai adress here - at least not any more. Most board members have already decided wether they're going or not, I daresay.
I'll reopen the promote-your-shit thread, but even that one is not for spamming our sheer linkdropping. Shouldn't be too hard to tell the difference, tho.
