Since the captcha thingie didn't stop spammers (or at least not ALL of them, so I guess that Zwerg was at least partially right ;) ) all newly created accounts must now be approved and activated by the proper authorities ;) . I guess this will solve the spam problem once and for all.
Rejoyce and be pleased!

Having to wait for account activation could actually drive new people away, but if that's what it takes then so be it.

Yeah, that came to my mind as well. I was away over the weekend and now there's 68(!) new accounts waiting to be activated...or deleted. I'd prefer not having to go through them all one by one (excluding the very obvious spammers, of course), but unfortunately I don't see any other way atm.

I'm late to this, since i haven't logged in in 2 months, but i'm all in favor of it-i was surprised by the new process, but it's easy enough to adjust to.Sucks that the admin/mods have more work to do though.
Maybe it will slow down flyby members too-the ones who start a membership post a pic and never come back.If you have read this board for awhile before joimimg you can wait a few days when you do join..
it's just another in a lifetime's worth of lessons never learned

I must point out that if you still see an occasional spam post here, it's not because of bad protection. Aldhissla's system so far works flawlessly, it seems. These posts are from spam-users who registered months ago but held their posts until now (the last few I deleted all registered in January). There's almost a thousand spam profiles on this forum and so they can't all be checked and cleared at once, since Aldhissla has to delete them individually.

^I'm not sure what it's called that's more than a pain in the ass, but what you're saying seems to be about it.

Kudos for keeping the spammers away!
It would be kind of nice if there were more people on the board who would contribute to conversations though. As long as it doesn't turn into a disaster like some other boards, the more the merrier.

Cheers,
More active members would indeed be welcome. But just to give everyone a quick update: Nothing has changed on the spam invasion front (except they can't get through to the actual board anymore); there's still about 25-30 new ones every day. I just deleted 115 accounts - four days worth of sheer filth, not one single actual new member in there. I'm wondering if' it'll ever stop in the near future. 8-)

Regarding the issue of the Website and the Forum being down:

It has come to my attention that people have been accusing Riku aka Webtroll for being responsible for that unfortunate circumstance and have openly been talking shite. After the site went down, I personally contacted him, and he did reply and told me what the problem was (I contacted Vreth as well and he also replied, reassuring me that the issue was worked on) - and it was something that he had nothing to do with and was unable to do anything about. The Trolls know what the problem was, and I'd like to leave it to one of them to state it - or not. Anyway, I dunno who's been talking, and I don't really care. Whoever it is (if someone from this board at all - will post this on Failbook as well just to make sure), just cut the crap and rejoice that site and board are back.

Cheers

Aldhissla

I missed the story of what happened to the site, but yay it's back!
