Just to mention, did you know that you are horribly, horribly wrong? :ugeek:

Fucking f?? This... this IS IMPOSSIBLE! I know I shouldn't trust the internet... Well, who was it then? WHO!?

SkrymeR wrote:Hahaha...Even i didn't know that!
Katla did the main part,Wilska and some little backing noise by meee...Which someone might call "singing" :D
But hey,did you know that i also replaced my self after the first album and that Somnium started the band with hes brother!!?!?!
Wikipedia rules,hahaha!!

Zwerg wrote:im just wondering that there are still ppl beliving in what wiki sais :?

the thing with den sista runans dans is maybe there because the albumcover tells something like that, at least skrymers name is written in brakes behind the title.

I do like Wikipedia a lot, you do find plenty of facts and useful info on it, tho i have to admit that reading such bullshit on it makes me wonder what else is wrong with it.

If one has a Wikipedia account, can one just go ahead correcting such information? If possible one of us should take over the article and make it a decent one. I'll be happy to take care of that if I may. Well, if I even can, that is.

Zwerg wrote:i use wiki too, but only for getting some points to get started with looking for something, but then i always look somewhere else to proof if its right or not.

DarkVikingMaster wrote:Check out the references on the page for validity. I know that is not always possible.

Some of the information there is valid and very useful.

Ärväthyyll wrote:@Shamaniac: yes, you can change Wiki articles (that's the main problem of Wikipedia, anyone can just go there and change it :P) or at least open a debate about whatever is bothering you. Right now I also see that either I misunderstood Trollhorn in his studio diary - or the person who quoted him on Wiki did. And other things are written oddly too. (If we're going to discuss Finntroll on Wikipedia or other similar pages for a bit more time, I suggest a new topic.)

Yeah man, go ahead. Just throw in a couple of sources from interviews (all neatly provided by Ärvhäthyll (sp?)) and you'll be able to establish a decent Finntroll article for once. It's not like it's an article about Bosnia, so you probably won't be contested.

Shamaniac, knock yourself out! :P

But interviews are not the best source - everything should be rechecked from the band-members again. I remember Vreth saying on the previous forum that some answers are wrong either because they screwed up or because the reporters make their own interpretations.

I'll have a look into this when i come home later on. Most helpful would be if you people could help me by pointing out what info definately is wrong, what you would like to have changed and where additions are needed. I dont want to end up clogging the article with useless boring info, and after checking the english and german pages it seems some of the mistakes pointed out earlier have already been modified or they sit on other sites, like the finnish one, which i of course will not be able to correct. maybe we can work together on a decent know-it-all article in english and then find people who can translate the thing into various other relevant languages such as hindi and burmese... ;)

Well, I don't want to go into details, because I don't know the exact truth either ;) But I think you're right, the page isn't as bad as it was described. At least there's nothing about Fintrol changing their name to Finntroll after realising fintrol is some chemical stuff used for killing fish. I wonder where online I found that info? ;))

A quick overview shows that there's no word about Vreth joining the band between Tapio Wilska's dismissal and the recording of Ur Jordens Djup. Virta has to be added to members in several places and generally the members section needs to be changed ... Every section with band members has a bit different list (the text, the table, the list and finally that thingie at the end) :D You can just use the official page and official news as a source.
I guess you'd need a reliable source to quote (hopeful look towards the band members) about the status of Tomi Ulgren and Pete Eskelinen since the official page has no information about the band's history. Right now on Wiki they're mentioned as session and former members, depends on the paragraph.

The last paragraph of History section deals with very recent information so it'll need to be modified constantly. Right now it says the album still doesn't have a title (is Mot Skuggornas Värld now really official?).
And Finntroll homepage states Visor Om Slutet is an EP while on Wiki it is listed under studio albums.

There are other things too, like the video section and that (IMO not even encyclopedia-important) thing about the song titles being mixed up on the new album. Looking at the source of that makes me think Trollhorn was just misunderstood ... But I've already slided into "I don't know, I'm just guessing" ... So I'll stop here.

But thumbs up to you for fixing things!

Brilliant. I'm already facing first problems. My Wiki account doesnt let me log on. It said my password was incorrect. It wasn't yesterday, today it is. After several tries i asked the page to send me a new password by email. It said it did, but i never received such an email. Now i can't log on at all and next chance to get a new password is after 24 hours. I need a hacker.

I'll keep tryin.

I did. A new account solely dedicated to the work on Finntroll.

First changes are made:

1) Visor Om Slutet has become an EP
2) Vreth has become a full time member
3) Virta has become a full time member, too
4) Mot Skuggornas Värld has been mentioned as a follow up

Keep me posted concerning changes/additions you want me to do. And please tell me if i put in wrong info...

THAT i will check back with the man himself, since i'd very much like to see that gone form wiki altogether. if we go down this road i can also put in "in late 2009 Trollhorn pretended to be a hot blonde from sweden, calling himself Inga".

Honestly, you find it surprising people thought that? ;)

You went from a man named Ormy, who looked like this (yes I know it's a Jaktens Tid photo, I can't find any older), to a guy named Skrymer, who looks like this :P

I updated the bottom template to also reflect Virta as a member and that Visor om slutet is an EP and not a full-length album, to make it consistent with the body. First time editing a wiki article, ha!

I could edit the "Personnel" on the album pages to be consistent with each other when I get home from work tonight if you want. I don't mind doing the tedious little things like that; it's basically what I do for my real job anyway  You guys are more the experts on content! ;)

Ah, jeez, thanks! i totally forgot that bottom template. And yeah, go ahead with the albums if you like, as long as it is done by people that take it seriously, it doesn't matter who fiddles around with it. Saves me some work, too! :D
