No problem. Now that I look at them I see that I could have done more closely job, but I think you'll get the picture of each hymn.

I've done translations of the Midnattens Widunder lyrics from scratch, but there's one thing I can't get straight. What the fuck is he singing in the clean vocals part after "Riv ditt hjärta, riv din själ"? The booklet only includes the lyrics when there's a duo with harsh vocals. It's clearly something along the lines of "Riv dess egna skugga" (Tear its own shadow).

Oh shit nigger, I'm translating secret lyrics.

I would like to thank whoever designed the impossible to read clusterfuck that is the Midnattens Widunder booklet, I would also like to thank whoever arranged the lyrics in the wrong order. Including some lyrics that were not sung at any point on the album was a nice touch as well.
Jag saknar sommaren om vintern, och vår när det är höst
Jag klagar över värmen, gnäller högt i regn och rusk ^_^
Men över allt i världen, så vill jag stanna här

Half a year later: is this still on the menu?

I found translation of that Latin part of Kyrkovisan online - somebody asked for its translation on a Latin forum. (LINK)

It's not very good Latin, indeed. Spelling mistakes abound and grammatically it barely makes sense. An English equivalent might look like this:

"Let him who has a mauth prey
Who spirit let him speak to cherches.
And they worshipped, speaking [of a] beast
Who is like a beast, and who will be able to fight, with it
Go back, black angell, into the infernal abyss
Trollu of satin into the lake of fiere
In the name of the father, and the son, and the holy spirit."

So what's that in English then (I want to add it to translations)? I think I know what he's trying to say but I can't express it.

Let him who has a mouth, pray,
whose spirits let them speak in churches.
And they worshipped, speaking of a beast,
who is like the beast and who will be able to fight the beast.
"Go back, black angel, into the infernal abyss,
Troll of Satan, into the lake of fire,
in the name of the Father and Son and the Holy Spirit."
One beer to rule them all.
One whiskey to find them.
One vodka to bring them all
and in the drunkness bind them!

Thanks for reminding me, heh :P
I seem to have mislaid my notes! I'll just do them and post as I go so I don't fuck up again.

In general, these translations will be more in tune with the biblical style that the lyrics are written in. If I recall correctly there were some influences from the poetry collection Fänrik Ståls Sägner, or it's just influences that have been influenced by said poetry collection. It has brough quite a few phrases into the modern language, after all.

oh who am I kidding they were just playing shitloads of D&D

Midnattens Widunder

Svartberg

Thoughts? Realm underground or Kingdom underground?
The timing and pronounciation on the second verse is a bit unclear; Do they step forth from ash and flame or is the sky coloured by the ash and flame? I went with the latter, even though it kinda sounds like they step forth from it.
"Kom an" is used a bit weird, that's normally used when you challenge someone to fisticuffs, ie. "Bring it!" and not when you want someone to follow you.
"styr med eld och stål" may or may not be an original Finntroll phrase, but as you could probably figure out it's basically "rule with an iron fist".
"Vitekrist" (Whitechrist) is the Swedish translation of the ancient nordic name for Christ.

Rivfader

The old English translation seems to have mistaken the mythological creature "Vittra" for "Vittring" (Scent), so that's quite a big difference. Also, the white serpent is not the one doing the beholding. It is beheld.

Doing the new album one by one, suggestions for improvement are welcome.

Blodsvept

Covered in patterns of bursts
That blacken the furrows in the edges of rocks
The spirit of wrath sprinkles on my eyes
The being of violence drowns my soul

Crushes scales, mangles limbs
Washes my soul, cleaning rain
In a fury, a barrage of defeat
I howl, feast on the life's elixir

Covered in blood, from strike to strike
Thousands I murdered
Blodsvept

They scream, beg for their god
When I send them away
Can't be stopped, I ambush them
A blodstorm sprays into the sludge of the battleground

Covered in blood, from strike to strike
Thousands I murdered
Blodsvept

Food for crows, meal for wolves
The ground becomes covered in mutilated dead
Brooks become streams of madness
In an extasy of enemy blood

When all is over, battle remains
I'm weaved, enthralled in shackles of steel
But when war is near, the chains shall fall
Then the sound of horns will answer the fight

Covered in blood, from strike to strike
Thousands I murdered
Blodsvept

Ett folk förbannat / A Cursed Race

We tear
We climb
We rise constatly
Mangle, bite, make their skin bleed

Eternal stride of the universal beasts
The path of man, not so long
She shakes the mountains, chains fall
The furious rise
They all rejoice

We tear
We climb
We rise constatly
Rip, cut and slit their flesh

Eternal stride of the universal beasts
The path of man, not so long
She shakes the mountains, chains fall
The furious rise
They all rejoice

We strike
We strangle
We rise constantly
Enthrall, hate, burn their land

The morning comes when we march no more
That day we can see a glimpse of the end
That evening all will have stopped
That night now approaches, a cursed race...

We lick
We chew
We rise constantly
Devour, swallow, smite their glory

We tear
We climb
We rise constatly
Mangle, bite, make their skin bleed

Eternal stride of the universal beasts
The path of man, not so long
She shakes the mountains, chains fall
The furious rise
They all rejoice

När Jättar Marschera / When the Giants March

Among mother trees and gloomy branches
Something stomps with the heaviest step
Soon echoes a mighty roar
Now flee both the brave and the cowardly

Giants are walking now, shaking the earth
Thunderstones strike and storms gather

Pines are falling and bark is shaking
Judgement falls, the might of the glaciers

Fire giants whip an ocean of flames
The ranks of Hrimthurs growl deep
Trolls of the forest and journeys in trot
Flee from the march of the giants

They carry on with the wind

Over mountains, primeval forests and eternal ice

Until they arrive to human territories
Then the might of the glaciers is unleashed

Fire giants whip an ocean of flames
The ranks of Hrimthurs growl deep
Trolls of the forest and journeys in trot
Flee from the march of the giants

Frozen vastness and a steel monument, crumbled by teeth of the coldness
Sea washes the face of a mountain, children of man weep the salt of the oceans
In the eye of the storm a wonder occurs, where all stood silent new life takes over
When the giants' march comes to an end, a new beginning but an end for us

No memory, no thoughts, no soul

Mordminnen / Memories of Murder

The murderer, he lived in a croft
His mentality dark as feathers of a crow
Dour and alone with murder in his heart
A dozen slaughters, he enjoyed of the memory

Murder in mind

He guards, he spies on his lambs
The spirit of hatred grows in him
On the sides of roads, at the trenches of paths
Filled with massacre, thisrty to hurt

He strikes only during a storm
When everything is done, he will eat
There he catches the close and dear ones of many
Their flesh for the glory of the dark, devoured!

He cleaned his tools well
With them hangs them up
Dry, wind, tear, grate
He knows his tricks, he grins

Murder in mind

His leg shortly burns in the sea of flames
His penalty, he knows, the hottest tomb
There he is cursed under the ground
For his deeds, for memories of murder
