Amalaith wrote:I stick to bands I like very much. Means I appreciate what they are doing and respect the shitloads of hard work producing a new album and touring. And I want those beloved bands to go on with what they do. Therefore I always buy the CDs. They are much more valuable for me then dowloaded stuff. And I do not only want to have the music but also the artwork. I prefer Digipacks, as they are mostly really beautiful. And if it comes to more unknown bands, I mostly try to see if you can buy the CD directly on their website.

Mhm, agreed. Digipacks rock. And booklets with lots of information in it. Booklets that are "books".
How soon do the pre-order options usually come out? Like Aldhissla said, nothing yet, it's frustrating although it doesn't change anything.

Edit: It just occurred to me that with the date of release and the postage delay I'll probably see them live before even seeing the Nifelvind. Will it be sold on tour as well? (Too much of an off-topic?)
One beer to rule them all.
One whiskey to find them.
One vodka to bring them all
and in the drunkness bind them!

The cd would take a year or two to reach the third world. Will listen first and buy in a year when it comes... lol.

I'm gonna give one of these "Yeah...sure" answers but in this case, it's actually true. At least during this moment, things might change as we all now. I'm going to try my best not to actually search for the album before it comes out but well, sometimes it's hard not to, especially when it comes to a thing as easily accessible as downloading something. If I should come across the torrent...I'd probably download it. Now comes the "yeah sure" part, I'd most likely buy it aswell at the release day. Like Amalaith wrote, when it comes to bands that I really like, not buying it is just...well rude. Finntroll has so far never disappointed me. Sure Nattfödd wasn't my all time favorite precisely, but it was still really good. When buying an album it really isn't just the music I'm after, the real deal always has a certain feeling about it and given all the artwork and stuf...Well...It's totally worth the money.

I'm gonna be totally honest, I don't have enough money to buy every album that I want, I must choose and the only way is: downloading and then, listening. Usually, I try to get special editions, limited editios or something like that because I'm a bit freak  even if I can afford any whim, vinyls. In short, I have to be selective.

PS: also I buy in Itunes

PS2: Finntroll doesn't appear in Spotify...... WHY???????????

Ffff, when you put it like that (comparing it to peeking at the presents beforehand), it makes me not want to download it! I'd already planned to import the album because I don't want to wait the extra 3 weeks for the North American release, but I'd been thinking of "peeking" whenever it leaked because... damn, I'm more excited about this release than anything else to have come out in a long time! Plus I know my other friends are gonna be jerks and brag to me that they've heard it already, when they know I love Finntroll so much in particular  That will make it even harder... but I'll wait, now that I think about it. It always downplays the excitement of opening a new CD when you've already heard the whole thing anyway, and this is an album I don't want to spoil for myself! :D

Finntroll doesn't appear in Spotify? They're sure as hell there for me. Don't know if they got some country restriction on artists or something ( Doubt that though). Strange.

I kinda made it my policy to always buy and not download newly released albums, since I do want to buy something and support bands that I love, but I don't have the money to buy every cd I listen to... And I really don't want to spoil the surprise of a new album, but if Nifelvind would be downloadable, say, 2 weeks before the album release, I'm not sure I could contain my curiosity 8-)
Meanwhile, I'll be sure to have any Myspace-released songs and samples on endless repeat :D
