Kill em all is mediocre, but Ride the lightening,Master of Puppets and the Justice album are all top ten thrash albums.Anthrax even in the glory years always made half a good album padded with filler(really, does anyone ever want to hear gung ho or skeletons in the closet ever again?)Nuclear assault,a band i love is an aquired taste,John Connely's voice bothers a lot of people. And speaking of voices, that brings us to Overkill-a band that wouldn't have existed without Metallica's direct influence. What's left?COC?As if -mediocrity at it's most banal.Frisco and Deutchland owned thrash, they get the credit they deserved.
On topic(sort of)-With regards to changing styles-i think bands should do as they wish, for their own reasons. If it doesn't interest me i won't listen to it anymore.Bands should please them selves first, the audience comes second.
Just because a band is the origin of some modern day good music, doesn't make them good themselves. I personally cannot stand Metallica purely for James Hetfield's fucking stupid and irritating redneck singing voice which he's always seemed to have embraced.
