I think Id have two choices: Either find a clone who would do my job on stage or try it with a bottle of red wine before, which would cause the next question: would I be able to leave the closet when drunk and could I remember my lyrics ?? (bandmembers would probably laugh their ass off because of those cowards here  )

Speaking of stagefright, maybe you wanna take a page out of my friends book: He's the drummer in a german "pagan metal" band called Varg. He walked out on stage once at the Ragnaroek festival cause the management wanted him to announce the next band to the audience. He stood up in front of some 3000 people and did the job and added: "I'd actually like to take out my cock now for you guys and swing it around a bit, but i can't, i'm sorry. My girlfriend told me not to."

Thing is, what he said is actually true. I do remember her getting very angry with him cause the public seemed to see more of his cock than she did...

I play both bass and guitar. I bought the bass this february and maybe two months after that I started to play guitar too so I'm not that good yet. I got three guitars in my room atm :D one old crappy electric guitar, my bass guitar and an acoustic one that my father owns, I can growl too btw. I don't know a single chord yet, I only play tabs and try to create own stuff and since me and my friends rather recently started a what will be a viking(with probably some finntroll, månegarm and Amon amarth influences) band once we start to compose our own songs so I'm really looking forward to that.

@superadde-If you don't mind me sticking my nose in your buisness,I would recomend learning actual gtr chords now when starting out,it will be better for you in the long run.Tabs are often incorret, and real gtr chords will come into your life sooner or later if you keep playing, and its better to get on board now
it's just another in a lifetime's worth of lessons never learned

@Amalaith the cloning sounds like a good idea to battle the stage fright thing :) I also thought of having a CGI character of oneself or perhaps a stop motion animation might also work :D
As for beer id have to wait after the gig, as drinking and playing are two things I cant do together  A couple of years ago we where recording some songs in my old band and decided to have beer while we recorded made a whole load of mistakes

@Superadde what type of bass have you got? :)

@Shamaniac that story is funny :D

Thats the good about singing, as long as you don't take tooo much, wine or beer and singing goes fine together (Vreth might approve   )

But playing seems hard. The drummer of a befriended band drank many cans of beer every rehearsal and EVERY TIME after half an hour he was way too drunk to play - total waste of time. And on stage it wasnt even better- ... My ex-boyfriend plays guitar like a god when he's stoned though... :P

I guess it must be a bit easier if your a singer :) but what if you forget your words  would you just improvise? or start furiously headbanging until you remembered them? :)
When im playing I always have to have the lyrics before me as I cant remember them, I put it down to failing memory and age

Oh I don't mind, I want to get better. Making a living on music is a dream job for me right now. Yeah, I know I've been planning on starting to train as soon as I get the last string to my fathers acoustic guitar and a new computer (hijacking my brothers atm :D)

Well it's just a nondescript normal cheap bass guitar to get me started. (I'm really bad at musical equipment knowledge) Anyway it looks like that. Except the neck and head are in a dark shade of yellow and it says "Gold" on the head

isn't that just a fender jazz bass replica? i used to have one of them made by Aria. Actually one of the best non-professional brand makes i've ever played.
