Good movies

Postby Ärväthyyll » Thu Nov 12, 2009 3:18 pm

We need a movies topic :)

I just noticed today that Rare Exports (Finnish "Christmas" Thingie: PART 1, PART 2) is being made into a movie. Heheheh. First Christmas film (next to Nightmare before Christmas) that I'm looking forward to :D
One beer to rule them all.
One whiskey to find them.
One vodka to bring them all
and in the drunkness bind them!

Jag saknar sommaren om vintern, och vår när det är höst
Jag klagar över värmen, gnäller högt i regn och rusk ^_^
Men över allt i världen, så vill jag stanna här

I watched "Rain Man" once again last night - so goddamn outstanding that I (almost) forgive Tom Cruise for being To Cruise every time I watch that movie.
Still to this day
I can hear the whistle blow
I can smell the sage burn
I may be as old and stubborn as a pine
But I am just as wild as the young.

Has anyone ever seen the movie "The Disappearance of Finbar"? I loved that movie a lot because of its strange story and atmosphere.

"Finbar (Jonathan Rhys-Myers) and Danny are close childhood friends who live in a depressing neighbourhood in an Irish town. Finbar gets the chance to play soccer in an international soccer team abroad but can't use it and comes back. He went as a hero and came back as loser. Even the relation to Danny gets worse. In an act of desperation he jumps from a bridge and just disappears. After years of missing Finbar, he calls Danny from Sweden and Danny follows this call disappearing from this neighbourhood, too. In an odyssey, Danny travels from Stockholm to the far north of Sweden, to Lappland, looking for Finbar. Up there, he does not only meet Finbar but also very nice people and the lovely Abbi. But the friendship to Finbar has changed and their lives evantually separate.Written by Gerhard Windecker"

The best ones are Sin City, Shaun of the Dead, Halloween 1, Live and Let Die and Braveheart. Remember also to check out the old classic, Star Wreck :)

I haven't seen this but i will-it sounds interesting.

I recently saw Anvil-the story of anvil, which was very good despite the fact that Anvil is a pretty crappy band.I feel for these guys, and they play music cause they love it,but it must suck to be a real life Spinal Tap.
it's just another in a lifetime's worth of lessons never learned

I heard about that documentary, sounds pretty rad. One of my favourite metal documentaries is the short one about the Nifelheim brothers, and The story of Anvil sounds pretty similar.

Im a big fan of Tim Burton :D Nightmare Before Christmas, Sleepy Hollow, Edward Scissorhands, Corpse Bride. Are all classic films in my humble opinion :D :D
On the extras of Nightmare Before Christmas, there are a couple of early Tim Burton Films. The better of the two is Vincent a stop motion animation its worth checking it out and its narrated by Vincent Price
I also like Ridley Scott Legend and Gladiator are two of my favourite films by him :)
and I like Terry Gilliam The Brothers Grimm that is really well done I like films about folklore I find such stories fascinating :D

I went to see 2012 last night. My gods. Horribly over-exaggerated bullshit stunts and loads of brainless hollywood bullshit action, as far from any kind of imaginable reality as could possibly be (and I'm not even referring to the actual plot here, end of days and all that), stunningly dumb and head-aching stupid car stunts only topped off by jaw-dropping idiotic flight scenes, but overall still quite entertaining if you make it through the parts that make any half intelligent person gawk and drool with numbness. :|
