Anyway, the time I ate pudding with a pickle. After a long night drinking and being stupid with my friends I arrived home only to find out I have NOTHING in the fridge apart from some leftover pudding, pickles and some drinks. I had not eaten for 6/7 hours so I really had no other choice then to eat pudding with pickle..... Atleast I was still drunk so I really did not care at the time : P

Wasn't there a Pokémon called Geoduck?

We'll be continuing the tradition of eating Surströmming at Party San. Like Natto it is fermented, but with herring instead of soy beans.
The smell is hard to describe, but I know it contains smörsyra (butyric acid), so that'll give you an idea if you've ever smelled that. Can be smelled a block away if the wind is right.

Serve on a special kind of soft, thin bread with fresh potatoes, red onion, sourcream and dill. Drink shots of Vodka.

Maybe you can get it at IKEA in your country? I remembered that EU tried to get rid of the dish due to the high amount of dioxins, but we had it made an exception due to it being a traditional food consumed very rarely.

That sounds very interesting, I'll check it out at IKEA. I'll open it when our effing neighbor is sunbathing outside.

those things are great, They are called "zure haring" in the netherlands and they are pretty popular. You cant really sort of like them, or you LOVE them or you HATE them.

Yeah, there's not really anyone going "eh, it's alright" in regards to the taste. That's a direct translation of the Swedish name for it, then. It's a lot more common to eat it in the north of Sweden than in, say, Stockholm. Some relatives who moved there have gotten complaints from neighbors.

Don't eat it indoors, by the way. It might stink up the furniture; I've heard the smell can rub off on the butter if you keep it too close.
And get the cans that have the fish already filleted, it gets a bit messy otherwise: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fr-oeC0K7Ck&NR=1
Also hold it under water when you open it, it's under pressure so you might have this happen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQPc443z ... re=related

I'm just clicking around on Japs and Brits eating it at this point, woop internet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Gs_utph ... re=related

Is Surstromming Like Pickled Herring`s? Which I have had, on one occasion a Polish friend of mine bought some into the pub one time. I was drunk at the time but I quite liked it, however a lot of people around were not so keen because of the smell!
The worst food I have had is minced liver turned into shepherds pie, it was minced with nothing else in it. This was from Primary school it made me wretch and we were made to eat it truly disgusting!! :(

Pickled herring is very delicious, I like it a lot. We make pickled fish from other kinds of fish as well.

This whole thread (or rather the way it turned out) made me drool over Lapskaus like hell. Ordered my dad's recipe. Must cook and devour!

That sounds good, the herrings I had If I remember correctly it had a lot of garlic in it as well which is what I liked about it. However I havent made it myself something I might try at sometime, as we have a fishmonger in Wick. :)

Unfortunately there is no Surströmming at IKEA. Anyway I've bought some "Ekologiskt" coffee, whatever it is.
