We used to have Spam when I was a kid, but it was either in the mac & cheese or it was fried. I hated burping up the hot dog taste for two days after eating it. It wasn't as bad fried with the gelatinous goo heated into a thin plastic like crust with the innards tasting like the warmed congealed excrement of so many diarrhea afflicted hot dogs, but yech.

Guh, thanks for helping me remember the taste of spam :( " It wasn't as bad fried with the gelatinous goo heated into a thin plastic like crust with the innards tasting like the warmed congealed excrement of so many diarrhea afflicted hot dogs"

Man, I'm so glad my family wasn't so poor that we could only afford Spam. These are quite the disgusting stories I'm reading, and seeing pictures of.

That's something along the lines of "Environmentally ethical grown coffee", which means no pesticides and what not. It costs more than regular coffee, so I don't buy it.

^Oh, so I'm an environmentalist then.

Over here poor families eat bread and lard.

Actually it's very delicious but not for someone who doesn't eat anything else.

I knew we had a food topic somewhere! :D

Just two questions:

First of all (Carcharias' post in another topic reminded me of this): do you like your steaks well, medium or rare done? I always see this question in movies but in real life I have only once been in a restaurant (Argentinian one, very good) where I got that question. The norm here I guess is "well done". Nobody cares if you want it bloody ;)

How about pasta? I remember traveling to Switzerland with school and we all hated how undone the pasta was, because it was al dente and we weren't used to that.
One beer to rule them all.
One whiskey to find them.
One vodka to bring them all
and in the drunkness bind them!

Steaks shoud be medium rare or medium for me. As for pasta, I prefer "well-cooked" to al dente.

Pasta should be a little bit al dente, most people overcook it horribly making it this weird slimy slush. Ew.

As for steaks, like Ärväthyyll I've only got that question once or twice. I always go with medium if asked, it has served me well.
