Thursday evening: Orbán Viktor was talking about the great successes our government has reached in stabilizing and improving Hungary's economy.
Thursday night: Moody's downgraded Hungary to junk.
One of them is mistaken I guess.

We had you guys on the news the other day. On one of those over-dramatic shows, saying how high suicide rate in Hungary is lately (normally we're either on top or running close behind) ... I guess they're just trying to sound like we're in a bad situation, but it could be (will be) worse :/

@Ärväthyyll: Yes, suicidal rate is getting higher, but it only applies to people under 24. That's saddening.
@Mats: Well, this is not the first time it happens. Soon we'll get used to it.

And so, we had election yesterday and we will have a new government soon.

Based on the fiasco the political left made over the last 3 years, everybody expected social democrats to win this time. But lo and behold, the winner is actually the current mayor of Ljubljana (who has higher ambitions) from the political left (he wasn't in election 3 years ago so he is "new" - but he did support the previous government so basically he isn't new at all). I have mixed feelings about this. I prefer left to right and in some ways, this guy has proven he has guts and iron fist to move things around, but I fear more corruption.

Good thing is that nationalistic party didn't even make it to the parliament this time. Last time they had 5 seats!
Bad thing is that the more conservative Christians are back. They were left out 3 years ago, but now they returned full speed. There has been some media attention on them lately. One priest told his congregation that whoever votes wrongly won't go to heaven. Oh dear. (But the priest generally said one has to vote for political right, not this party in particular.)

To be honest, I'd prefer nationalists to these Christians here, because our nationalistic party is a bunch of goofballs. They make a lot of noise but never really act. Even in their program I find the conservative Christians more dangerous - in many ways they have similar ideas than nationalists, just that they also give women problems, which nationalists don't.

But they will be opposition anyways, I suppose. I just hate they're back.

Legal proceedings have been started against Dopeman, one of our musicians, for using a few lines from our national anthem in his latest song called BAZMEG! (FUCK IT!). The song is about how do we feel about our politicians, taxes, law, our country and such. The video was shot at an oppositionist demonstration.

Troll, will the guy be in loads of trouble? What are the lines of the anthem and how are they now used?

As for here, we have a national sweat-suit day. I guess it's an informal protest to what our major opposition party is doing now when they lost the election. They published "an opinion" of one of their voters on their webpage, and the writing was very insulting to the people who voted for the guy who won (who is half Serbian). It was a nasty nationalistic speech about stupid and uneducated immigrants (and people from mixed marriages) who voted for the party that won, saying they can't speak Slovene language and came to election wearing sweat-suits, with the number to vote written on their hand so they wouldn't forget it. The opposition party who owns the webpage claim this isn't their fault - that they publish everything. As far as I know, we are still responsible for our webpages, so screw them. And the party hasn't even condemned the writing.
They will be prosecuted for hate speech, I guess.
As for me, I actually don't own any sweat-suit, so I am jeans-bound even on a day like this ;)

He might get one year in prison. He's accused of defiling a national emblem. Last week he was interrogated by the police as a witness. Of course he is not a witness, he is a suspect, but as a suspect he could have refused to give confession. Besides some far right guys reported him. Three times.
He used the beginning of our anthem, they are the most known lines for us:

Isten, áldd meg a magyart
Jó kedvvel, bőséggel,
Nyújts feléje védő kart,
Ha küzd ellenséggel
(O, my God, the Magyar bless
With Thy plenty and good cheer!
With Thine aid his just cause press,
Where his foes to fight appear.)

He didn't change the text and he used it as the chorus of his song.

The European Commission and the IMF cut negotiations with Hungary on Friday morning. They left Budapest. Rumour has it that the European Commission wants our prime minister's head and they want to remove him from his position like the Greek and the Italian prime minister not long ago. Well, we too want Orban's head, so the European Commission is our friend.

AnonFinland's Twitter channel was in the news over here. They are the Finnish division of Anonymous. They wrote some stuff about Hungary:
"#Klubradio closed. #Orban & #Fidesz r killin democracy in #Hungary w/their oppressive laws. #Anonymous, rise up: it's time to stop this shit"
"Lulzsleigh warmed up & ready to fly to #Hungary to help our bros down there. #Orban, for ur sake, u better GTFO be4 We get there #tietovuoto"
"Seriously, who the fuck cares what political color rules #Klubradio? No radio/newspaper should be shut down for not being "enough Hungarian""
I love these guys.
