I watched (finally) Apocalypse Now (Redux version, which apparently is director's cut) and Ghost in the shell.

I find them both overrated, although Apocalypse Now by itself isn't a bad film. I was told later that I should have watched theatrical version instead. I don't know why but every time I see a Francis Ford Coppola flick (and I haven't seen his Godfathers) I kinda like them but I think they're always missing an umph.

Ghost in the shell was oh well. Everyone was so excited about it, I can't see what the fuss is all about. Well, at least it wasn't the worse anime I've ever seen.

Zodiac Directed by David Fincher 2007, based on the book by Robert Graysmith. With Jake Gyllenhaal & Robert Downey jr, this is a very good film a gripping film a about the hunt for a serial killer, and the correspondence between the newspaper that the above work at. It is quite creepy which makes it all the more believable, it is a very well made film and there are some really eerie moments which adds to the story, I got the special edition in a slip case and two discs.

Quantum of Solace Directed by Mar Forster 2008, this is the second bond film with Daniel Craig and personally I think he is the best person to play Bond in years. It is and action packed rollercoaster of a film lots of car, boat and plain chases many explosions. I like also Judi Dench as M, there is also a nod to Goldfinger It is a good film although the story is a little disjointed even though it follows on from the previous film

Apocalypse now is a film to be watched alone undisturbed,so you can get drawn into the paranoia and psychosis of the boat and the cult of Kurtz.A pretty dismal movie it's still really powerful.Part of the problem is Brando showed up without doing any of the prep work he was asked to do,so Coppola was forced to use whatever decent footage of Brando he could get-seriously does he look like a man who could do special forses training at 40?.there is a documentary about the making of apocalypse now that they should have included on the DVD-it's pretty interesting stuff.

i watched Hot Coffee a documentary on HBO about civil lawsuits in america and it is pretty persuasive about how fucked the have nots are,and getting more fucked every day.
Also watched Sucker Punch which was a lot better than i expected-the smooshing together of all the dispirate things the director liked worked really well,for instance at one point they are in the trenches of ww 1 fighting steampunk reanimated germans and theres a long shot of someone pulling out a 200 year old single shot pistol,and it's like the director is shoving it in your face-"yea i know it's way out of time,but it looks cool,so go along for the ride or fuck off"Also less expoloitive ofthe young women than i expected,and refreshing that women who are not anorexic were cast.

I liked this film too even though I did`nt quiet get it certain sequences of the film reminded me of music videos should like to see it again to see if I can make better sense of it.

Last night whilst listening to "Front Row" on Radio4 they mentioned a film called headhunters, I was quite intrigued by the comments about it. Has anyone seen it ? www.imdb.com/title/tt1614989

Watched Barbarella. Well, actually it's a quite silly movie, but it wasn't even meant to be too intellectual, so it's OK. Sexual revolution, psychedelic blob and Jane Fonda in provocative outfits. Awesome!
And I saw Predators recently, but to my great disappointment that's terribly crappy. Knowing that it was directed by Antal Nimród I expected a much better one. I don't really understand that after making his iconic movie called Kontroll (iconic for us at least) how could he be involved in such a bad movie. Not to mention Robert Rodriguez.

Watched a couple of movies recently, most of them not recommendable.

Avatar: Watched it because it was on TV for the first time and I had nothing better to do. Nah.
Envy: Every now and then, Jack Black proves that he can also do stupid (in a bad way) movies, too. Not worth watching.
Black Sheep: Genetically engineered horror-sheep eating up New Zealand's farmers. Well.
Erik the Viking (finally): OK, good one - but I didn't expect anything else.
Stranger than fiction: Another one worth checking out, but one does easily survive without having watched it.
The Thing: Apparently a remake of the 1982 version...and even though Mr. van Heijningen spares us Kurt Russell, this movie is a lame mixture of Invasion of the body Snatchers, Alien Vs Predator and The Relic...
Surf Nazis must die: At least I can say I watched it now. The rest is silence.
