Almost one year later the show at Melkweg we know nothing about the DVD, nothing about tracklist, artwork, name of the dvd....so there are any news?

Thing is, I completely agree with you. My ranting about wanting Jaktens Tid again mainly roots in the fear of another Nattfödd. It's not like I didn't like it when it came out, only I had a feeling that back then your music had taken a more chewing-gum-ish turn. I thought "shit, they go all beer and tits metal like Turisas or Ensiferum do." The reason would have been the suddenly widely acceptable sound of a song like "Trollhammaren". Suddently every dick knew that song shouting along to it with a beer in hand, and when questioned, turns out it's about the only thing they knew about finntroll. I found this so disgusting that those people were completely ignorant shits treating this band like your average, at best mediocre "Viking Metal" band out there, thinking this new humppa thing and mythology was nothing than another reason to get more beer. This by the way happened to Korpiklaani too after "Tales..." Only that they liked it and stopped evolving at that point. This whole turn of events affected my feelings towards your third album.

Please help me understand, why can other people thoughts have influence on your global opinion of the album? How does it affect you that most people like them just because of trollhammaren? Would you stop listening to it if everybody in the world would listen to Finntroll?

Why care about them? If they don't take time to understand what finntroll really is, then that is their choice (and lost imo), why worry about that?

Well, we are different and think differently. Guess that is the only explanation. I myself 'hate', when someone says that "Dimmu Borgir is fking best band!!" "What are your favourite songs?" "Umm...Serpentine Offering and... the rest /,,/".
And those guy always want to talk about Dimmu with me, and the dialogue is something like this:
"Dimmu is best!"
"Yesh..."
"YEAH!"

I know it's frustrating to come across people who aren't as passionate about music as we are ourselves (and I'd say that all of us here on the board do take music seriously, else why would we bother to come here ), but I don't think it's fair to fault a band for putting out a song or album that happens to be popular with the masses (and by that I mean, perhaps 'casual' listeners of music). Really, aren't congratulations in order? I know the real motivation behind making music should not be "to become super famous and make a ton of money!!" but it must feel pretty damn good to write a song and find that people everywhere are singing along! Sure, it makes you as the listener feel special to be a part of something that's small and underground, but at the same time, I would rather be happy for the success of an artist I appreciate, even if that means dealing with a few more random people in the audience, who don't necessarily share the same passion as I do.

I know it's a delicate line, though - because if the artist then caters to 'whatever brings in the most new fans,' then something's gone wrong along the way, and I would be disappointed too... But I really don't think Finntroll are in danger of heading down that path, do you? They're making the music they're inspired to make, and if that also happens to be the music that catches the attention of new listeners, then more power to 'em, I say!
