Facebook is kind of a dick place to have advertising, competition and what not on. Not everyone has a profile.

Like that one Sunn O))) concert I wanted to go to, even though I checked the club's official website for the ticket release it sold out before I got the chance to buy tickets. They had first announced them on Facebook, so all the people who had subscribed to their fan page got first dibs, sold out right there.

Isn't that kind of the point? I assumed bands would want to offer some kind of incentive to the "real" fans (i.e., the ones that sign up for mailing lists/fan pages/forums) in order to gain more of those fans.

That sounds like an incentive for fanboys, not fans. If there's a measure of a "real" fan, it's showing up at the gig and maybe buying a shirt

Mailing lists are ok, but having to start using some hell of lame community platform is not. In Sunn O)))'s case you had to be checking the club's page on Facebook, which apparently updated way earlier than the official website.

Yeah, I have a facebook profile now. Thinking of deleting it, but it's good to "park" your identity at that site. Heard about a lot of dumbasses being scammed by some fake best friend account.

Im not sure about this not Tim Burton thing, seems an odd thing to point out, and they are trolls and therefore will lie, then again apparently they may not have been aware of the pages existence..... agh, so confusing.....

Too bad it's only on Facebook. I don't like Facebook. Once a friend said, MySpace is like that dirty bar you show up at 1 a.m., trying to pick up someone who’s already drunk and Facebook is stalker central.
Anyway, I can't wait to see the video!
