The only metal band I've heard that uses a tuba sometimes besides Finntroll is Overlord Industries. It's pretty cool.
Or was it a trombone?

Anyone know what the available musician count is in Sweden and Finland?

Welcome to America where everyone wants to play metalcore...

Amp is behaving itself no funny sounds, everything sounds clear, got to do some work on guitar though one of my controls has come loose.
Putting stuff together for my musical project as its finished :D

Up from the depths comes the musicians thread

I have been searching Craig's list for cheap drums for a while and this morning a guy puts up a full 4 piece set, with cymbals, stands all hardware-for 350 bucks-gretch club set for working musicians-this whole package would be 8-900 new.So i jumped on it,even though the rack tom was the wrong size-listed as a ten it's a twelve so i have it tuned way too high.Other than that my big keith moon set came together pretty good. The new stuff is even the right color.
I have been practicing double bass for a while without drums just my feet,so i am further along than i would have expected-i can play overkill by motorhead, but it gets a bit ragged at the end. :)

i am happy with my playing lately-since the new year i have been PRACTICING every day-not just playing along to a band, but actual work at getting better, and i can hear it-i am more consistent as well,no more days when i just don't have it.30 years after my first set i am working at this hobby of mine for the sense of achievment-i will never be in a gigging band again, but i love playing, and it feels good to be getting better.

heres my mutt set

That looks like a good kit Mats! :D I used to my my drummers kit on occasion, he has a Tama drum kit. What I always found difficult was keeping a steady beat between the bass drum and the snare my coordination is all over the shop
Playing a bodhran can be quite difficult too, as it only has a little stick with which to play the drum with :? but can get a fairly good sound though :) more by chance than design ;)

I now can play blast beats for small amounts of time :o
think Cradle of filths the forest whispers my name played very sloppily and thats it.

i think i;ll start to make demos in the autum-my son has some recording software and i have some recorded ideas. Not sure if it will be raw rock and roll or BM-maybe both.I need some more time to shape ideas and learn software. Then i'll get a lamespace i guess and put it online.

Have just come up with a new riff, for a song that I wrote in December. I had to change the title as it was the same as one by the Norwegian composer Grieg  Had it rattling around my head for few days, have played it threw and written it down, it seems to be going okay. Its weird every time I think ive dried up with ideas another one comes shuttling along :D

On the subject of tuba in metal I was listening to Satyricon Age of Nero and there is a song called Den Siste that uses Tuba and trombone and trumpet and it sounds really good in black metal :)

last week i downloaded reaper which is a computor recording program for 40 bucks-which not only buys you the software, but years of updates and plug ins,and access to a forum where advice can be given.so awesome and easy to use,i have demo ed 5 songs, and i hardly know anything about the program, recording as i learn.with the amp modelor i bought i can even simulate 12 string guitar and bass.Im gonna buy a mike and do one mike drum tracks, with kick and crash cymbal punch ins-until i can afford an interface and multiple mics it will have to do :D

Out of the blue an old band mate called me 2nd week of January and asked me to play drums in a one shot band he's doing-a note for note in order performance of "shoot out the lights' by richard and linda thompson,an english folk rock duo who made the album in the early eighties as they were divorcing.Yea,so it's pretty uplifting stuff :D
completely not my style of music, but the drummer is very good and plays completely differently from me,so it's pretty challenging.Anyone whos gonna be about an hour north of NYC last weekend of march is welcome to come.
Here's my favorite track-full of dynamics and emotion.
